to paint or not to paint?

Mar 24, 2013

Originally Jay and I had planned on not painting the nursery, figuring we'd incorporate colour through bright rugs, pillows, bedding and curtains. Well now that we're putting the room together, the off-white walls seem so boring! Plus we still haven't found that many fun textiles because it seems that most US based companies won't ship rugs to Canada.

Plan B means painting the room a fun colour. I'm leaning towards more of a soft aqua or green-blue (something like this or this) where as Jay wants a bright marigold. The rest of the nursery furniture is soft grey or re-finished wood, so either colour would work. With less than 3 weeks to go we'd better decide soon!!

  4. We missed you around here. Glad to see that you are doing well and the baby is still inside :).

Paint paint paint if you have the energy and can do it before the baby comes. After the baby is here you might not be as motivated plus you might not want him sleeping in a freshly painted room with that strong smell.

Do share the final pictures of the nursery, I love seeing what people do with their nurseries

    1. It's nice to hear my rambling a were missed :) I will post pics of the nursery when it's done, it might be a few months though because its taking forever to find certain items!

The baby will stay in our room for the first month or so, enough time for the nursery to air out!

  5. I'd say paint, I love both colours you've chosen. Can't believe you are due in three weeks. Is time flying or what.

  6. I adore the aqua in your first link. I had that room pinned on Pinterest, and I have to say... I do regret not painting the room that color!

  7. I saw someone had mentioned Etsy...I actually emailed a few of the retailers who would only normally ship to the US and asked if they would make an exception and they were more than willing to accommodate so you never know!

  8. That second this is pretty! I like the plain off white though. I'm always thinking about the future and it will be easier to transition from rugs and decor than it is to repaint.

  13. What if you made wide stripes with two tones? :) I love your choices especially, and I think either one of those would look great.. Hmm take a photo of the room and use some editing program to add different colours on the walls .. ? :))

    Indie by heart

  15. One of the funniest things we did was paint. We even painted the ceiling light baby blue to represent the sky and stuck stars on it for a little 3D effect. I had so much fun doing the nursery.

  17. i think all colors would be pretty but i'm leaning towards the first one- the soft aqua. With grey/peachy accents it would look so pretty!
